Integrating Library Content into Blackboard for SAU Faculty: E-books

A guide for SAU faculty on how to add library e-books, articles, videos and more to your Blackboard courses

Considerations

Using EBSCO eBooks for supplemental reading:

Depending on the publisher-specified limits, up to 100 pages of an EBSCO eBook can be printed, saved, or emailed as a PDF file (per user) from within the eBook viewer.

  • Some titles may not allow for printing due to publisher limits
  • The number of pages may vary depending on individual publisher limits.
  • Remind students that there is a limit on simultaneous users, so they may have a problem if they wait until the last minute to access the assigned reading.
  • To access off-campus, log in to proxy.sau.edu

Adding a permalink to an EBSCO eBook

1. Go to  EBSCO eBook Academic Collection (if you are off-campus, remember to log in to proxy.sau.edu with your network credentials first.)

2. Search for the eBook you want to share with your students. From the results list, click the title of your chosen book.

3. Under Tools along the right-hand side, select Permalink.

4. Copy the permalink.

5.  Open Blackboard and decide where you want to post the content.

6. Go to Build Content and click on the Web Link. Paste in the URL.
