Gender refers to the socially constructed behaviors, attitudes, and attributes associated with masculinity, femininity and the continuum between the two. The social construction of gender and inequality based on gender are interlinked. This connection can be seen in employment choices, availability of health care, educational attainment, application of the law, human trafficking and bullying, just to name a few. Gender is often a topic that is not discussed, other than by a few who are interested in the social construction of gender. Therefore, developing activities and discussions around gender will fill a void and bring greater awareness to the implications of the social construction of gender.
